MemberPrep

Hazing Prevention & Risk Management Training

Research-informed hazing prevention that members actually complete.

Hazing prevention is now a legal expectation, not just a best practice. The federal Stop Campus Hazing Act, signed in December 2024, requires colleges that take part in federal student aid programs to adopt hazing policies, report hazing and provide research-informed prevention education. MemberPrep gives members and candidates practical, documented training on what hazing is, why it happens, the laws that apply and how to stop it.

What We Provide

  • Risk Management, Safety & Harm Prevention, a core course covering hazing definitions, federal, state and organizational law, bystander intervention and crisis response.
  • Hazing Prevention & Healthy Initiation Culture, an elective on the psychology of hazing and designing initiation that builds belonging.
  • Event planning and risk assessment training for social events, travel and large gatherings.
  • Electronically signed anti-hazing acknowledgments with timestamps.

How It Works

  • Self-paced online modules with video, reading and scored quizzes.
  • Realistic scenarios drawn from chapter life, so members practice decisions before they face them.
  • Bystander intervention skills based on widely used frameworks, including the 5Ds of bystander intervention.
  • Completion records and certificates that organizations can document and verify.

Can a chapter require all members to complete hazing prevention training?

Yes. Chapters and national organizations can enroll members through organization licenses and track completion in a partner dashboard.

Is consent a defense to hazing?

Under many state laws and nearly every national organization's policy, a new member's apparent agreement does not make hazing acceptable. The training explains why.
